London Borough of Haringey

Haringey Council is leading this project, working with the Community Design Group and our appointed design team, lead by Levitt Bernstein Architects. At the start of this year, we set out to develop a vision for the future of Down Lane Park. Together we have developed two early design options which we want to hear your feedback on.

Levitt Bernstein

Levitt Bernstein is a multi-disciplinary practice of architects, landscape architects and urban designers. For the Down Lane Park project we are leading a design team of others specialists in areas such as lighting, ecology, drainage, inclusive access and structural engineering. We are proud to be involved in this transformative project, working with the community design group and realising ambitions local people have for Down Lane Park. We have a strong track-record in public park design and have devised new masterplans for several public parks in London. These have included inclusive play, sports and leisure provision, new planting strategies, sustainable drainage principles and public art integration. We are award-winning designers and place great emphasis in putting the needs of people at the heart of our work. Each of our projects is unique but the driving force behind every one is the desire to create an environment that is beautiful, sustainable and functional.

Down Lane Park Community Design Group

The Community Design Group (CDG), made up of volunteers local community representatives and elected Councillors, is working with the design team to shape the design proposals for the park, supported by Council officers. As local residents, representatives of different interest groups, and park users they bring an in-depth knowledge of the area and lived-experience to the project.

Coherent Cities

Coherent Cities helps organisations communicate, collaborate and compete more coherently, based on the premise that all successes – and most failures – come back to people. We believe the way to give projects and teams more traction is by helping the people involved be more effective, whether that’s through confidence, sector intelligence, inclusion, finding common language or finding the right partners. Director Lisa Taylor is the connector and core of the company, delivering the services on this site. We also coordinate associate input, adding socio-economic, placemaking and masterplanning consultancy; political, policy and demographic research; sustainability assessment; cross-sector recruiting; organisational development and more.

We control and manage project costs from inception to completion with integrated risk, change and value management procedures. We are able to advise on procurement and contract strategies, prepare tender documentation, administer the tender process and manage the appointment of the contractor. During the construction stage we value work completed, prepare regular financial reports, agree the cost of changes and on completion, agree the final account. At all stages, we manage and keep clients informed of the final project cost.

We are engineers with a passion and expertise in the design and delivery of high quality award winning buildings, structures and public spaces. Our engineering skills cover both structural and civil, including movement, highways, flood risk, drainage, sustainable drainage and earthworks amongst others. Civic Engineering is the fusion of all these skills. We believe this fusion of expertise is essential to resolving the complex and competing needs of our towns and cities, leading to the design of innovative, sustainable and economically viable structures, neighbourhoods and environments, where we seek to work with the prevailing geography of a place

Light Follows Behaviour has a fresh approach to lighting design: more inclusive, more meaningful, more engaging. Light is the powerful tool we use to change spaces and cities. Based in London we go wherever our projects take us, because the place and its people are the most important and inspiring starting points. We are strategic thinkers with a critical understanding of how urban design and architecture flourish through light. Transforming cities and spaces needs collective, radical approaches; so through our work we weave the disciplines of social researchers, urban planners, architects, brand designers, and (other) lighting designers. Their knowledge, skills and experiences allow us to deliver the strategies that build unique and sustainable experiences of light.
